The eight matches (Ashtakoota) compare two Moons: the sign and the nakshatra the Moon stood in on each birthday. Each match carries its own weight; together they make thirty-six points.

Why a range without his birth time

What the score will not tell you

A calculation. The Moon’s position on each birth date comes from ephemeris data; the nakshatra and the eight matches follow the classical table. Sun-sign horoscopes play no part here.
Do I need the time and place of birth?
No. Two dates are enough. Time and city add precision: without his hour you see a range, with it a single number.
What does a zero on Nadi mean?
That on one of the eight comparisons — energy and health together — your nakshatras fall into the same current. It is eight points out of thirty-six, so the total drops at once. Old texts call it an obstacle; I do not: it is one line of a table, not a diagnosis.
Do you store the dates?
